Go Big or…Go Bigger?
Creative exaggeration is a fantastic way of getting your point across when advertising, and a recent ad campaign by Nestle for their beloved KitKat candy bar is a fantastic example of that very technique.
We’ve spotted three variants of the latest campaign. In all three cases, the ad is dominated by a delicious, packaged KitKat with a lake of delicious chocolate just beneath.
By itself, there’s nothing remarkable about that part of the image. It’s what you find hovering above it that brings the advertising magic. In one case, it’s giant birds making off with the candy. In another case, it’s UFOs, and in the third, it is a playfully rendered hand of God, reaching down to take one of the delectable candy bars.
It’s a fantastic way of demonstrating just how delicious they really are, and best of all, this is a tactic that anybody can do. It doesn’t matter what you sell, though admittedly, it takes a fair amount of confidence to advertise that God himself wants your candy or other product.
The ads have been an incredible success for the company, and they’ve got legions of people talking across a wide range of social media channels.
It’s a classic case of go big or go really, really big and they’re absolutely wonderful.
