About Irving, Texas
Irving began under the name Gorbit in 1889 and the name was changed to Kit. In 1914 Irving was incorporated. The University of Dallas in Irving opened here in 1956. The Dallas Cowboys played at the Texas Stadium in Irving from 1971-2008. It is home to the headquarters of Chuck E. Cheese, LaQuinta Inns and Suites, Kimberly-Clark, McKesson Corporation, and Boy Scouts of America. The population is 256,732.
