Pop the Question with a Billboard
Wondering how to ask your loved one to marry you? Think big! Think billboard. Here is a look at how it worked for two couples, one in Minnesota, the other in England.
Colin and Brittany in Minnesota
Colin Buschette asked, “Brittany Stang: Will You Marry Me?” on a billboard in Detroit Lakes in Minnesota. Said Stang, “I just sat there and screamed or five minutes,” when she saw the proposal.
Buschette’s teamed up with his brother-in-law, who works for the local billboard company. He asked Stang to marry him the first day it went up, but the billboard remained in place for a week. A small sign was added to update passers-by. It read, “She said yes!”
Paul and Tara in the England
Paul Bakewell designed a poster and had it enlarged to a 30’ x 20’ billboard and installed in Waisall, West Mids in England. He announced to the world, “Tara, you’ve changed my life. Will you marry me?”
Tara Barber’s boss, part of the romantic plot, drove her past the billboard on the way to a business meeting. The huge sign, with a photo of the couple, was hard to miss. In shock, she stopped to gape. Paul appeared, got down on one knee and proposed. And Tara said yes.
