Griffin, Georgia is the county seat of Spalding County and has a population of around 23,300 people.
The city was founded in 1840 and named for landowner Col. Lewis Lawrence Griffin.
Georgia Technical College is located in Griffin, GA, as well as branches of Southern Crescent Technical College and the University of Georgia.
Griffin, Georgia has been used as the production site for several movies and television shows, including Driving Miss Daisy, The Walking Dead and The Hunger Games.
Several notable people grew up in Griffin, GA, including Sydney Lanier, a poet, lawyer and musician and June Shannon, reality star and mother of Alana “Honey Boo Boo.”
