Villa Rica, Georgia is located in northeast Carroll County and northwest Douglas County. Between 2000 and 2010, the area’s population jumped 238% with nearly 14,000 people residing in Villa Rica, GA.

The location that became Villa Rica, GA was settled in 1826 along what is now Dallas Highway, when gold miners from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware came in search of gold. Two towns existed then, and when the railroad was built, buildings from both towns were moved to where they still stand in Villa Rica, GA. They were moved by rolling them on logs pulled by horses.

Villa Rica, GA was incorporated in 1881.
